Google searches results on desktop will now include tweets, an expansion of the tie-up between the two companies that began surfacing Twitter content on mobile devices several months ago. The inclusion of tweets in desktop search results isn’t in itself a momentous announcement, but Twitter investors might be comforted by the tightening relationship between the two companies. The partnership is an important one for Twitter because it’s counting on increased exposure to drive more traffic back to its service where it can serve ads and address it’s hard-pressed need: to turn visitors into users. Meanwhile, Google’s access to Twitter content helps it surface more real-time results faster. The two companies announced the search expansion in an adorable Twitter exchange.
