Teenager whose stomach swelled to the size of a basketball is shocked when scans reveal a 2 STONE cyst growing on her ovary

Bethany Lane, 16, from Middlesbrough, noticed her stomach swelling at Christmas last year, and then later collapsed from stabbing pain in her side. 


Tests revealed a 35cm growth on her left ovary, filled with 10 litres of poisonous fluid (top right). Doctors said it could have killed her if it burst. On June 14, she was taken for keyhole surgery to remove the cyst, and despite three scars (bottom right), has now fully recovered. She said: 'Doctors said they'd never seen a cyst as big in someone my age.'
