Fresh Prince of Bel-Air reboot 'in the works with Will Smith attached to executive produce'

The Fresh Prince will once again be whistling for a cab to take him to Bel-Air according to this news. Will Smith's classic sitcom - The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air - is in advanced talks to be rebooted and the rapper-turned-actor is involved in a big way, claims TVLine. The original sitcom starred the late James Avery as Uncle Phill, Alfonso Ribeiro as hapless Carlton alongside Tatyanna Ali, and Joseph Marvell. Daphne Maxwell Reid, Janet Hubert-Whitten and Karyn Parsons also starred in the comedy which ran for six seasons before ending in 1996. It saw Smith play a cocky, trouble-prone teen who was sent to live with his auntie and uncle Banks in Bel-Air in their mansion. Instead of starring in the reboot Smith would be merely executive producing the show, while his production company Overbook Entertainment is producing the development. The website claims Will's wife, Jada Pinkett-Smith is also executive producing the show, alongside James Lassister and Caleeb Pinkett.
