Ovaltine, DHL support Internally Displaced Persons

Twinings Ovaltine Nigeria Limited, makers of Ovaltine beverages and DHL Express, have announced a strategic joint partnership to donate and transport millions of naira worth of Ovaltine to the Internally Displaced Persons at the Yola Camp in Adamawa State. According to a statement from the company, the General Manager, Twinings Ovaltine Nigeria Limited, Mr. Enrico Liggeri and the Managing Director, DHL, Mr. Randy Buday, said the two organisations were leveraging the partnership to amplify their Corporate Social Responsibility commitment in Nigeria. Liggeri said as responsible corporate citizens both companies recognised that this was the right time to respond to the plight of the IDPs because they required support and empathy at that critical moment of their lives. He added that Twinings Ovaltine was touched in particular by the displaced persons’ need for highly nutritious food most especially children, nursing mothers and aged people in order to keep them strong and healthy as government at all levels continued efforts towards their permanent resettlement. He said the current condition of the IDPs should be of concern to everyone, both at individual and corporate level as Twinings Ovaltine and DHL Express Nigeria had demonstrated. Under the strategic joint partnership between the two corporate entities, Ovaltine is providing the free products while DHL Express provides the air and road transport free of charge to get the products to the Yola camp. Liggeri commended DHL Express for the partnership which made the air and road transport of the consignments of Ovaltine from the company’s factory in Lagos to the IDP camp in Yola possible. He also thanked the Medical Women Association of Nigeria for its support. On his part , the Managing Director of DHL Express Nigeria, Mr. Randy Buday, said ‘‘DHL Nigeria is pleased to support the initiative by Ovaltine to bring nourishment to the displaced persons. Corporate Responsibility is an integral part of our corporate strategy and we are committed to making a difference in the communities within which we operate. As the largest express logistics company in Nigeria, we are in a very fortunate position to be able to partner with Twinnings Ovaltine and we trust that our contribution will make a tangible difference to the people in the IDP Camp in Yola.”
