A stunned woman discovered she's been wearing somebody else's wedding ring for years - and has no idea how. Marianne Crowley, who married her husband Flor in 1997, was shocked to find out the ring she'd been wearing was not her own. Speaking on Joe Duffy's Liveline on RTE Radio 1 today, she said she was baffled how it happened. She told the Irish Mirror: "I've never been apart from it. "I had the rest of them valued recently, but I didn't send the ring along with it. "I never wear the ring on it's own, I always wear the other rings with it and I definitely don't remember having two weddings." While trying to remember her anniversary date, she asked one of her colleagues to take a look at the inscription inside the ring. She asked her pal to tell her which day in September the ring said - and was startled when her co-worker said the ring was inscribed with July 1993. But Marianne and Flor got married on September 13, 1997 - in fact she doesn't even know anyone who got married in July 1993. She says she has never taken off the wedding ring, so she's not sure how or when the swap could have happened. The Irish woman went on to say that she never took the ring to the jewellers to get it cleaned or polished, or left it anywhere it could have gone missing. She does admit, though, that she dropped a ring once. Eight years ago, Marianne dropped a ring down a sink in a hotel - she just can't remember if it's the wedding ring. She said: "Even if it was the wedding ring that I dropped, what are the chances of picking up one that looks the exact same that would fit my finger?". Since she never wore the wedding ring without other rings, she feels it was unlikely that someone sought out her wedding band. She said: "Somebody would hardly swap the wedding rings and leave the ones with the diamonds." The ring is described as being a plain gold, narrow band. The inscription on Marianne's band reads: "F.C. - M. S. 13/09/1996". The ring she currently has is nearly identical, but with the inscription: "03/07/1997 PAT". She says she doesn't know if PAT is a person's name or an abbreviation of names, like Paul and Theresa. Despite the mystery, Marianne says she's just looking to reunite the ring with PAT - whoever that may be.
