Jessica Simpson in New York City with husband Eric Johnson on Wednesday as they left The Bowery Hotel on their way to celebrate the 10th Anniversary of her Jessica Simpson Collection fashion line at the city's famed Tavern on the Green. The singer-turned-actress-turned-fashion-mogul sold the majority stake in her company earlier this year in order to further its growth, and after starting out with just a line of shoes in 2005 the company takes in around $1 billion annually. The company is now looking to open Jessica Simpson-branded stores to sell her products, which now include clothing, jewelry, handbags, accessories, fragrances and home goods.
"I had no idea (her company would grow so big so quickly)," she said at the event. "We really just started out with shoes and accessories and now we're going into active wear and we have maternity (clothing), and we're going into home and... hopefully opening stores soon, so it's continuing to expand and grow every day." With a home studio project nearing completion, Jessica also revealed that she has new music on the horizon now that she's got some a little more time on her hands since selling party of her company. "That project is almost wrapped up. I maybe have, like, 3 more weeks until it's done and I'm down in my basement recording," she said on "The Today Show" on Wednesday. "I'm sure my kids will completely take over. "Even Eric, my husband, I recorded a Christmas album with him, but he's never actually seen me on stage and like, do my thing that actually got me here." The mother of two isn't sure what direction her music will take this time around, but it really doesn't matter that much. "I want it to be authentic to where I'm at in my life right now. It might not be on the radio, I don't care, but it will definitely be on my web site," she told USA Today on Wednesday.
