NIBC To Boost Nigeria, Iran Economic Cooperation

The Nigeria-Iran Business Council says it is committed to boosting economic growth and cooperation between Nigeria and Iran.
As such, the council said it was set to explore business opportunities in both countries for Nigerian and Iranian businessmen and women.
To achieve the objective, the NIBC said it had begun offering relevant business information to prospective Nigerian businessmen and women seeking to do business in Iran.
The group stated these at a workshop it organised recently in Lagos to unveil business and economic opportunities in Iran.
The President, VirginGold Nigeria Limited, Mr. Hassan Momoh, who spoke at the workshop, urged Nigerian businessmen and women to tap into the opportunities.
While comparing trade relations between Nigeria and other countries, Momoh noted that the trade volume between the two countries was too low and unacceptable.
In a paper entitled ‘Doing business with the Iranian businesses’ the VirginGold boss traced the low trade volume between the two countries to dearth of information about business opportunities in Iran and Nigeria.
Momoh said with the lifting of economic sanctions imposed on Iran by the United Nations and United States, countries in Europe were already cashing in on this and Nigeria must not be left behind.
He said, “Iran has always wanted to do business with Nigeria over the years because they believe that Nigeria is strategically placed in Africa and is at peace with almost all the countries of the world.
“But there have been paucity of information and data about the capacities and capabilities of either countries especially Iran.”
According to him, with Iran’s Gross Net Income per capital of $15,780, Nigeria stands to benefit from its large and growing economy in all sectors.
