A mother who claimed a Primark security guard snatched her baby from her breast as she was feeding appeared in court today charged with perverting the course of justice. Caroline Starmer, 28, claimed she was assaulted by the man who “physically removed” nine-month-old daughter Paige as she breastfed behind a mannequin.
The mother-of-four alleged on Facebook she was asked to leave the store in Leicester on July 13 this year. She appeared at Leicester Magistrates Court charged with intending to pervert the course of justice.
Starmer, dressed in a short-sleeved black top and white vest, spoke only to confirm her name and address during the two-minute hearing.
She was given unconditional bail and ordered to return to Leicester Crown Court for a preliminary hearing on September 22.
Chairman of the bench Linda Eaton said: “Mrs Starmer as you have just heard this matter will be adjourned to crown court on September 22. “You need to be there by at least 9.30am.
“Until that time you will be given unconditional bail.”
Starmer is married to Stuart, 45, and they have three other children, aged eight, two, and Paige's twin sister Freya.
