Fulani chiefs in Nieria’s South West have
appealed to the Afenifere Group to cooperate with them in finding a lasting
solution to the perennial clashes between herdsmen and farmers in the country. The remark was made by the Sarkin Fulani in Lagos, Alhaji
Mohammed Bambado at a press conference in Lagos on Sunday to address some
critical issues arising from the recent kidnap of Chief Olu Falae. The Fulani leaders also called on the government to support
cattle rearers and set up ranches. While addressing journalists, the Sarkin
Fulani condemned the criminal acts of kidnapping or any form of threat to lives
and property but was quick to say caution must be taken in handling such
sensitive issues bordering on grazing and nomadic pastoralism. They also called on government to support ranching as a way of
dealing with the issue of perennial clashes between herdsmen and farmers.
