CNN International, MTN Launches Africa-Focused News App


CNN International, a leading international news channel and MTN, Africa’s leading telecommunication operator have announced the launch of an Africa-focused news app, Africa View.
Africa View curates CNN International’s extensive African content including the network’s ‘Africa View’ weekly infographic content, providing background and content to trends, figures and initiatives shaping Africa.
Also, the app will showcase content from CNN’s flagship African programming including ‘CNN Marketplace Africa’ and ‘Inside Africa’ as well as breaking news and incisive analysis about the continent.
“The Africa View app is the perfect way of delivering up-to-date African news, stories and CNN’s award-winning Africa shows’ content straight to your smartphone,” VP, Advertising Sales at CN International, Antonio Canto said in a press release.
He added, “The app marks the latest step in a unique commercial partnership with MTN to find new, relevant ways to connect with CNN’s mobile audience across Africa and beyond.”
The app was launched as part of a multi-platform commercial partnership between CNN and MTN which spans advertising, sponsorship and digital components.
All content of the Africa View app, which can be freely downloaded from the Apple Store, Google Play Store and MTN Play Store, is editorially independent, alongside prominent MTN branding and message.
Africa View, launched in February 2015, airs within one of CNN’s flagship news and current affairs programme ‘Connect the World with Becky Anderson.”
CNN International, launched in September 1985 and headquartered at CNN Center Atlanta, is a sister channel of CNN carrying news, current affairs, politics, opinions, sports, features and business programming worldwide.
