MainOne Donates ICT Tools, Free Internet To Secondary School In Yaba, Lagos


MainOne Cable Company, an African-owned communications services company has announced the donation of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) tools to Herbert Macauley Girls Secondary School in Yaba, Lagos.
The donations were made under the auspices of “MainOne Connect”, the company’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative focused on education and youth development.
The ICT tools – desktop PCs, UPS Power Backup and provision of free Internet capacity, will be housed in the school’s MainOne-renovated ICT Lab and will provide the students access to unlimited amounts of information.
Also, MainOne will put together software tutoring programmes through its partners – Co-Creation Hub and Andela, to ensure the students they pursue careers in technology.
Speaking at the commissioning of the ICT Lab, MainOne’s Legal Manager, Kasope Akindele, who represented CEO, Funke Opeke said, “Our initiative in schools is to drive the delivery of quality education. We are particularly delighted with this opportunity to promote technology to a female population.”
Since inception, MainOne has donated study materials such as bags, text and exercise books to various schools in Nigeria on a yearly basis, and has renovated critical infrastructure facilities.
MainOne, founded in 2008 and headquartered in Lagos, Nigeria, provides wholesale telecommunication-bandwidth services and land cables for telecom operators and Internet service providers.
