Over 100 million Android Phones To have Opera Max Pre-Installed By 2017 - Opera Software

Opera Software, a Norwegian software company popularly known for its Opera browsers, has announced that it expects Opera Max, a data management and compression app to be integrated into more than 100 million Android smartphones by 2017.

This forecast is premised on the new partnerships it has entered with Asian original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) including Acer, HiSense and TWZ.

Opera Max reduces data consumption across most apps on Android phones by as much as 50%, offering users more affordable mobile internet access.

With Opera Max, avid Instagrammers, YouTubers or Netflixers can save up to 60% of the data usually spent on these apps without a noticeable loss of quality.

In a press release made available to TechLoy, Product Manager for Opera Max, Sergey Lossev said, “Many users are wary of using mobile data for fear of spending too much or exceeding their data caps. We see OEMs responding to this and stepping up to lower the barrier to mobile internet access by providing a data-optimization solution on their devices.”

As of today, 14 OEMs including Samsung and Xiaomi have embedded Opera Max on their smartphones with Opera Software presently working with manufacturers around the world for further adoption of Opera Max.

Opera Max app is available as a free download from Google Play.

Opera Max, launched in May 2015, uses unique technology to save on videos without any visible loss of quality and is particularly useful in mobile-first markets such as Africa and Latin America where people are consuming more content than ever before.
