Tony Blair and US president Bill Clinton (both pictured left) also shared worries about the future of Princes William and Harry in the hours after the death of Princess Diana (top right) in Paris almost 20 years ago.
A transcript of the call, made on September 1 in 1997, was released on Thursday in a declassified document at the Clinton Presidential Library in Little Rock, Arkansas. In the conversation, Mr Blair shares his disbelief at events and reflects on the dangers of the road tunnel in which Diana and Dodi Fayed (not pictured) died.
