Kakanfo Improves Services, Honours Workers, Customers

The management of Kakanfo Inn and Conference Centre has announced the commencement of the upgrading of its services to meet the demands of the booming hospitality industry in Oyo State.

The Chief Executive Officer of KICC, Damola Are, said this during the 27th anniversary of the hotel and a party held to honour its employees, customers and notable guests.
Are said the quality of the hotels springing up in Ibadan had created a healthy competition, and that for KICC to stay at the top, there was the need to lift the quality of its services beyond the present level.
At the ceremony, which was attended by the Ashipa Olubadan, High Chief Eddy Oyewole; renowned Harvard professor and a literary critic, Biodun Jeyifo; prominent writer, Prof. Femi Osofisan, and others, the Chairman of the hotel, Dr. Lekan Are, said the event was an annual occasion held to appreciate the staff, customers and other associates, who contributed to the success of the hotel and conference centre.
At the event, the female version of The Punch Award for Excellence was won by Motunrayo Adegoke, while Yinka Ogungbile won the male version. The Team Player of the Year Award was won by Bukola Olanrewaju.
The CEO said, “We have to appreciate the staff for the hard work they have put in here. Numerous people have played roles that put us where we are today. We need to let them know through the awards and gifts that the management is offering them that we are grateful to them. This is how we treat out team members.
“Hospitality business in Oyo State is growing with quality hotels springing up. In Ibadan alone, we had 306 registered as of January 1, 2014. We probably have 400 quality hotels in the state.
“We are aware of the competition we face and to stay at the top, we are updating our hotel’s amenities. We have the spa, the outdoor snooker, pool bar, new restaurant and so on. In the next one month, the Ogunshola Court will be opened.”
Are said the new addition was an upscale private villa for exclusive guests, which was being built from an existing structure in the hotel, stressing that it was completely different from the other rooms.
