Lagos To Host Remittance And Mobile Money Expo In February

The 6th Remittance and Mobile Money Expo will take place in Lagos, the economic capital of Nigeria, Africa’s largest remittance nation on February 2-3, 2016 at the prestigious Lagos Oriental Hotel.

The two-day event will bring together leading innovators and decision makers from international money transfer operators, financial services providers, financial technology providers, agent network operators, mobile financial services providers, regulators and stakeholders from the supply and demand side of the financial technology and remittance industry.
Some of the issues to be considered at the event includes the barriers to cost-reduction; challenges and opportunities in the African remittance market; the emergence of digital remittances such as mobile money, online transfers; and crypto-currencies in lowering remittance cost for Africans.
Speakers from leading money transfer operators and financial technology providers such as Transfast, xpressmoney, TransferTo, Xpressmoney, Tagattitude, Redcloud, and HelloPaisa will keynote the event.
“Africa has made great strides in mobile technology adoption and penetration; however, despite the pervasive coverage of such mobile networks across Africa, technological innovation has yet to drive down costs in Africa’s remittance markets,” Event director at Mobile Money Africa, Emmanuel Okoegwale said in a press release made available toTechLoy.
The winners of the 6th Kalahari Awards, which is dedicated to acknowledging creativity, commitment and excellence in the digital payments and remittance industry across Africa, will be announced at the event.
Interested participants should register for the event as soon as possible as the event is only a few days away!
The event is coming just as Nigeria prepares to license non-bank remittance providers for out-bound and in-bound international remittances in 2016.
The event is organized by Mobile Money Africa, a fully owned and managed by Go Mobile Nigeria, a registered Nigerian firm operating on the continent in the mobile financial space in the last six years.
