200-bed Hospital Ready Soon in Damaturu, Says Gaidam

Yobe State Governor, Alhaji Ibrahim Gaidam, wednesday revealed that its ultra-modern 200-bed capacity hospital which is being constructed and equipped would soon be ready.
The governor made the promise while receiving the Provost of College of Medical Sciences, University of Maiduguri, Professor Ahmed Ahidjo, who was in Damaturu to inspect the state-of-the-art radiology and other speciality equipment and facilities being installed at the hospital.

Ahidjo commended the state government for the construction and equipping of the hospital, describing it as a laudable project and the ‘best state-owned hospital in the North-east’.
He said: “I have been to many hospitals in this country. I must say amongst the newly built hospitals, it is the best.
“As a radiologist, I feel at home seeing the modern imaging equipment on site. Again, their distribution across the various radiological examination requests is very good. Even University College Ibadan doesn’t have some of the new equipment in this hospital…If put to full function, Yobe State will witness referrals of patients to this hospital. This means medical tourism to Yobe. The steps taken by the Governor of Yobe State in ensuring the construction and equipping of this health edifice is highly commendable,” Professor Ahidjo said.
The governor revealed in a press statement by his Director of Press Affairs, Mallam Abdullahi Bego, that installation of new equipment in every part of the hospital is now at over 95 per cent.
