Holy Crab! Stunning Holiday Snap Shows Fearless Tourist Holding A Monstrous Crustacean That Feasts On Rats And Can Crack A Coconut With Its Powerful Claws

Mark Pierrot was brave enough to pick up the massive coconut crab and hold it for the camera as he visited the jungle on Christmas Island, an Australian territory in the Indian Ocean.

With terrifying claws that are powerful enough to crack coconuts, the alien-like crustacean is the largest crab in the world and largest arthropod living on land, weighing up to 9lbs and measuring up to 3ft in length.

In addition to coconuts, they are known to eat rats and other crabs, although their meat is considered a delicacy and an aphrodisiac on some islands.
