Viewers have flocked to social media to demand that producers cancel the show after Britain's most successful gymnast Beth Tweddle (left, practising) was left needing surgery after breaking her back.
The 30-year-old perfectly executed a jump during training but crashed in to a barrier on landing, leaving her hospitalised. The sportswoman's family have now revealed she is set to undergo back surgery.
The statement reads: 'Beth had a fall on the slopes whilst in training for The Jump. She is stable and due to undergo routine surgery on her back.'
Her injury follows nasty falls by actress Tina Hobley, who suffered with a broken arm (centre) and needed gas and air (right) before her arm was put in a cast (inset).
Former swimmer Rebecca Adlington has also suffered a dislocated shoulder. A Channel 4 spokeswoman added: 'The health and safety of the competitors is always paramount and Beth was immediately taken to hospital for treatment after hurting herself during training.'
