Followers of the Three Lions were unable to contain their glee after watching their national side beat the reigning world champions with an injury-time winner to seal a famous win in Berlin.
Many took to social media, pictured inset, to praise Roy Hodgson's young and experimental side for beating one of the best national sides in the world, with others choosing to acclaim the English support in the Olympic Stadium.
As many as 8,000 fans, top right, travelled out to Germany to get behind the men in red and they were duly awarded with a night to remember, with players such as Harry Kane, bottom right, showing their appreciation for the support.
The win echoes the historic 5-1 victory for England over Germany in a World Cup qualifier in 2001, as well as a 2-1 win on same ground in 2008 in another friendly match.
