Paul Daniels' tearful wife Debbie McGee reveals the star's brain tumour meant he did not know he was dying as the couple spent his final days eating ice creams and singing Beatles songs

The entertainer's wife of 28 years opened up about her feelings just hours after he died of a brain tumour, talking about their 'fairytale life' and of having 'a marriage that everyone dreams of'.

Revealing they spent their final days together eating Magnum ice creams in the garden and watching game show The Chase, she said 'he never saw me cry, I smiled, I put my make-up on every day'.

Miss McGee, who was Daniels' former stage assistant, was by his side when he died aged 77 at his £2.5million Berkshire home early yesterday. Minutes before, he was 'smiling at me and joking and singing,' Miss McGee, 57, said, adding that Daniels did not know he was dying as he was in a 'happy, confused state - he knew who everybody was but his brain wasn't processing new information'.
