Peyton Manning fights back tears as he announces his retirement after EIGHTEEN seasons in the NFL and two Super Bowl victories

Peyton Manning (left playing for the Colts) has retired after 18 seasons in the National Football League.

The quarterback, considered to be one of the greatest to ever play the game, made the announcement Monday afternoon at a press conference in Denver (middle).

It comes just one month after Manning won his second Super Bowl (right). Manning spoke after a video of his greatest moments with the Broncos played, fighting back tears and taking a moment to gather himself before addressing the crowd.

He had difficulty speaking throughout the very emotional speech, which he closed by saying; 'I've fought a good fight, I've finished my football race. After 18 years, it's time. 'God bless all of you, and God bless football.
