The woman, who was wearing a bright red jacket, was photographed by a passer-by at Birling Gap, near East Dean, East Sussex.
The area of coastline, called the Seven Sisters, is notorious for eroding cliffs crumbling away, and was last year named by the Environment Agency as one of the 20 coastal beauty spots most at risk.
The National Trust, which runs the site, recently said the pace of erosion was 'breathtaking', and that the organisation had not expected such extreme levels of damage for another decade.
