The Duke of Cambridge was seen wiping his eye (left) and his face (right) as he and the Duchess left the historic landmark where one of the most famous photographs of his mother was taken. 

The 1992 image of Diana (inset) looking forlorn and alone outside the glorious symbol of eternal love as her marriage to Charles crumbled, became one of the iconic images of their failed relationship.
