Vice President Yemi Osinbajo says the Federal Government will
soon commence work on 31 major roads across the country in its drive to develop
infrastructure and grow the economy.
The vice president stressed the need for collaboration among
states of the federation in order to stimulate the economy, just as he
attributed the country’s economic woes to over-dependence on oil.
Osinbajo who spoke at the Economic Summit organised by Vintage
Press, publishers of The Nation newspapers, said the Federal Government would
prioritise infrastructural development to give a boost to the diversification
drive of the federal government as over-dependence on oil had been the nation’s
undoing.
He said corruption had equally crippled the nation’s economy
but promised that the Muhammadu Buhari-led administration was poised to change
the situation.
The summit had in attendance Governors Akinwunmi Ambode of
Lagos State and Rochas Okorocha of Imo State, among others.
