Couple is being forced to pay £8,000 for IVF treatment after hairdresser goes through early menopause at just 23

Laura Beeney and her husband John (pictured left and right) are hoping to raise enough money to fund private IVF treatment after doctors told her she had too few eggs for treatment on the NHS.

The childhood sweethearts face a race against time after she was diagnosed with early menopause at just 23. The couple were finally referred to a hospital to have tests for IVF treatment, which is offered to couples if they are unable to conceive naturally. But fertility guidelines on the NHS mean women with a low ovarian reserve - when eggs in the ovary are impaired or low in number - are not necessarily eligible. She said: 'When we got the bad news I didn't really understand what I was being told at first, it was very confusing. I felt quite alone.'
