Monument Bank (FCMB) says it has offset the medical bills of over 400 Nigerians
nationwide affected by cataract and other eye diseases.
In partnership with a team of eye doctors and experts from India under the Tulsi Chanrai Foundation (TCF), the bank said the services were free-of-charge and without conditions attached as long as the prospective patient can find his/her way to either the centre in Calabar, Cross-River State for those in the south and Kebbi in Kebbi State for patients in the north.
The
bank stated that the passion to help restore sight was motivated by its desire
to contribute towards national development.
“When it is well with the people, it is well with the nation”, spokesman of the bank, Mr.Diran Olojo, said in a release in Lagos.
The project tagged, ‘Priceless Gift of Sight,’ is a social service initiative FCMB has continuously sponsored for seven years. It is in line with the Sustainable Development Goals’ aspect of ‘health for all’ campaign, the statement added.
Mr. Col Prasad, Chief Operating Officer of Tulsi Chanrai Foundation (TCF), expressed delight over the bank’s gesture despite the economic crisis in the country.
