Lisa Guthrie, 35, from County Durham, has more than 100 moles covering her body. Despite this, as a teenager she was obsessed with tanning and would set the sunbed to run for one hour while she lay down for a nap (left).
After giving birth to two children, Mrs Guthrie disposed of her sunbed, but still her obsession with having a tan remained. But the mother-of-two's tanning addiction was put into stark perspective when a specialist said she had a malignant melanoma after having two moles removed from her back (inset). Now in remission (right), she works with charities to raise awareness of skin cancer. She said: 'A tan is not everything. 'It catches up with you in later life. I am putting all of my efforts into raising awareness - and the start of summer is a good time to do that.'
