During the golden age of flying, airline passengers looked pristine, oozing with the glamour of silver screen icons.


Ladies wore expensive pearl necklaces and dresses, men Italian suits (top left) and even children, were clad in formal wear such as bow ties (inset). There were smoking lounges (bottom right) and travellers had plenty of legroom and space to unwind (bottom left).
