Enyimba attacking midfielder Ikechukwu Ibenegbu believes Kano Pillars will not succeed in their revenge mission in their top-flight clash today.
The reigning Nigerian champions will host the Pyramid City side in today’s Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) matchday 27 clash at their adopted home, Yakubu Gowon Stadium, in Port Harcourt.
The People’s Elephant overcame Kano Pillars 2-1 in the first fixture clash at the Sani Abacha Stadium in Kano.
Ibenegbu said his side is determined to achieve a double against their perennial foes.
“We have heard and read as well that Kano Pillars are coming to avenge the first fixture loss in Kano, but we have told whoever that cares to listen that it will not be possible as far as we are concerned.
“Our focus is on how to make it a double against Pillars. We are strengthened for the daunting task by the Federation Cup round of 32 win against El Kanemi Warriors.
“However, we are not under any illusion that Kano Pillars will be easy to beat; Pillars are a good side and will go the extra-mile to prepare for the clash.
“So we are not going to take them for granted. But in saying that we are ready whatever antics and banter they will come up with to ensure we claim the three points at stake,” the former Heartland and Warri Wolves goal poacher told supersport.com.
Enyimba are fifth on the league log on 37 points from 23 matches, six points adrift of leaders, Wikki Tourists.
