'My cough was actually CANCER': Saleswoman says six different doctors misdiagnosed her disease as allergies, acid reflux and a pulled muscle
Jessica DeCristofaro, 28, from Miami, had a constant cough which was misdiagnosed as allergies, acid reflux and a pulled muscle.
When she went to hospital with severe stomach pains, it was revealed she actually had Hodgkin lymphoma - a rare form of cancer - and the disease had already spread. She underwent chemotherapy (top and bottom inset, and right, after losing her hair) and was in remission, only for the disease to return a month later. Now, she urges people to trust their instincts if they believe something is wrong with them (left , before diagnosis). She said: 'If you think something is wrong with your body, something probably is. Always be your own advocate, it's the only way.'
