Why the camera really DOES add 10lb? Man appears to gain weight in a time-lapse video - but it's just a trick of the lens

Photographer Dan Vojtech, from Prague, Czech Republic, shared a GIF demonstrating how simply using different lenses can dramatically change the shape of the face.


The first picture of a man in a grey vest was taken with a 20mm lens (top right), before he increased it to 28mm, 50mm and up to 200mm (bottom left). In each shot the subject's face looks wider and his features look smaller in proportion, proving that the old adage about film making people look chubbier is true.
