Thumbs up! Ukip's Steven Woolfe smiles from his hospital bed as he reveals how he was floored by fellow MEP - as the party that changed Britain implodes

Mr Woolfe (pictured left recovering in hospital) said Mike Hookem (pictured together during happier times in 2014, inset) 'came at him and landed a blow' in an altercation that left him needing hospital treatment after he suffered two seizures at the European Parliament in Strasbourg.

The Ukip leadership-favourite was at one stage feared to be fighting for his life after collapsing on the floor (right) following the clash, which came after a clear-the-air meeting between Ukip MEPs. Mr Hookem denies hitting Mr Woolfe and claims the former tripped over. Party interim leader Nigel Farage has launched an inquiry after branding the incident 'like something seen in third world parliaments'.
