Nigeria’s Konga officially launches grocery delivery service

Nigeria’s largest online shopping mall, Konga has officially launched its grocery delivery service, offering its numerous customers across the country an online platform to conveniently shop both perishables and non-perishables.

The company’s founder and Chairman, Sim Shagaya, disclosed the new service few weeks back, stating the company first made a foray into the business five years ago but wasn’t able to crack the market and as such had to discontinue it.
The company has now finally come up with a solution to conquer the niche, which has players like Gloo.ng and Supermart.ng, with Sim stating groceries will be delivered to customers over the most efficient parcel delivery network in Lagos; apparently Konga’s.
Today, the company officially launched the service, which is known as Konga Daily, in Lagos with much excitement and fanfare.
“Groceries are incredibly the most difficult merchandise to bring online but now, we have the system to make it work,” said Sim.
On Konga Daily, customers can shop fresh foods, household items, frozen foods, baby nutrition, cooking ingredients, cereals and porridge, drinks and beverages, and others. Deliveries are made in 24 hours to customers’ doorsteps in Lagos.
Konga Daily has a “save list option” where customers they can save shopped items in order to make subsequent shopping easy peasy – all they need do is check their “saved list” and check out, and delivery is done.
“We have lots of smart minds in Konga. We want to apply these uniqueness to arguably the most difficult category (Groceries). Konga Daily is us trying to explore into the customer’s daily lives,” said Shola Adekoya, Konga’s CEO.
He added, “We are not the just regular online shops, but Kongadaily plans to bring a difference/new experience to Nigerians.”
Customers in Lagos can head over to Konga Daily right about now to start shopping. Mama K and Bobo K will be making deliveries to customers’ doorsteps while payments can be made online (using bank cards), KongaPay or on delivery.
