Applications Open For The 2016 Ashden International Awards

Ashden, a not-for-profit green energy-focused organization has announced it is accepting applications for its 2016 International Awards.
The Ashden International Awards is aimed at rewarding innovative enterprises and programmes that is involved, either directly or indirectly, in the delivery of renewable energy for the betterment of people and the environment.
The awards is open to businesses, NGOs, social enterprises and government organizations with work that has been proven on the market and have been delivered for at least one year.
The work, which must have been delivered in at least one of the United Nation’s developing region of Africa, Caribbean, Central America, South America, Asia (excluding Japan) and Oceania (excluding Australia and New Zealand), must be in one of the following categories – increasing energy access; clean energy for women and girls; sustainable energy and water; innovative financial mechanism/business models for delivering sustainable energy; sustainable buildings and sustainable travel.
Of all the applications received, six enterprises will be selected for the International Awards, with each winner receiving prize funds of £20,000 and one Gold Award winner receiving a prize fund of £30,000.
Aside the funds, the winners will receive various benefits such as national and international publicity, business support, a broadcast-quality short film of the award-winning work, pitching opportunities at the Ashden Awards and conference, and so on.
At the 2015 Ashden Awards ceremony that took place on June 11 in London, United Kingdom, Kenya’s SteamaCo won the International Gold Award, receiving £40,000 in the process.
Applications for the awards closes on November 3, 2015 with the awards week earmarked for June 6 – 10, 2016 in the United Kingdom.
