Liquid Telecom Rwanda FTTH Goes Live in Kigali

Liquid Telecom Rwanda, a leading telecoms and value-added service provider in Rwanda has announced that its Fibre-to-the-home (FTTH) service has gone live and is available to homes and businesses in Kigali.
The FTTH service will provide homes and small businesses with Internet connections comparable to those enjoyed by large multinational corporations, thereby enabling homes to stream live TV, enjoy crisp-clear video-conferencing and real-time online gaming and so on, and boosting economic activities of small businesses.
The service, which has already been adopted by virtually all businesses within central Kigali, will be available from a number of MNOs and ISPs through wholesale access from Liquid Telecom Rwanda and by the end of 2016, more than 15,000 homes are expected to be on the FTTH network.
“Our goal is to provide a true broadband network which will help our country grow and prosper – and bring 21st century entertainment and information to our people,” Chairman of Liquid Telecom Rwanda, Sam Nkusi said in a press release.
Aside the FTTH service, Liquid Telecom Rwanda is also providing a special package for the MNOs and ISPs, enabling them offer fixed phone service together with ipidi tv, the IPTV service of the telecom operator, when it launches in Rwanda in a few months.
The FTTH service boast the fastest Internet access ever available in the country – speeds of up to 100Mbps, and will be made available to other cities in the nearest future.
Liquid Telecom’s FTTH service is also live in Zambia and Zimbabwe, providing homes and businesses with Internet speeds of up of 100Mbps.
Liquid Telecom Rwanda, an arm of the London-based Liquid Telecom Group whose mission is to build Africa’s digital future, hopes to help Rwanda become a leading ICT hub in the sub-region through its extensive investment into its network.
