The Nigerian senate continued the
screening of ministerial nominees that will form President Muhammadu Buhari's
cabinet on Wednesday. Former governor of Lagos state Babatunde Fashola,
Nigeria's oil company NNPC boss Kachikwu Ibe and former Anambra state governor
Chris Ngige were among the nominees cleared. Others were the APC candidate in
the Taraba state governorship election Aisha Alhasan and Abubakar Malami.
Solomon Dalung, Kemi Adeosun, Hadi Sirika and Adebayo Shittu were also
screened.
But the screening of former
Rivers state governor Rotimi Amaechi scheduled for today did not hold. The
development follows the failure of Senator Samuel Anyanwu’s led Ad-hoc
Committee on Ethics, Public Petitions and Privileges to submit their report at
plenary. Amaechi's spokesperson, Ibim Semenitari told TVC News that Rotimi
would return to the Senate on Thursday.
Meanwhile, President Muhammadu Buhari
has withdrawn the name of the immediate past Deputy Governor of Niger State,
Ahmed Musa Ibeto as a ministerial nominee. Senate President, Bukola Saraki
disclosed this while reading a letter from the presidency. Ibeto is to be
replaced by Abubakar Bawa Bwari as the ministerial nominee from Niger S
