PZ Cussons Offers 3 Million Naira Prize For Chemistry Competition

PZ Cussons on Tuesday in Lagos formally launched a Chemistry competition for secondary schools with an offer of prizes worth over N3 million.
Speaking at the launch of the competition, the brand manager of Carex, Oluwaseun Ayeni, said the ultimate winner of the three-stage competition would win N900, 000 cash, while his Chemistry teacher and school would get a laptop and a gold medal respectively.
According to him, the first runner-up would be entitled to a cash prize of N660, 000, while his Chemistry teacher and the school would get a laptop and a silver medal respectively.
He explained that the programme was part of the social responsibility initiative of PZ Cussons Foundation, PZCCC, and was now in its third edition.
He said the company had invited entries from SS3 students of public and private schools in Lagos State.
In his address, the vice chairman of PZ Cussons Nigeria, Tunde Oyelola, explained that the corporate social responsibility initiative was designed to stimulate and promote the learning of Chemistry among Nigerian secondary school students.
Mr. Oyelola, who is also a member of the Board of Trustees of PZ Cussons Foundation, said they placed premium on developing the science IQ of secondary school students and demonstrating the relevance and role of Chemistry in the society.
Announcing call to entries for the third edition of competition, Modupe Badiru, said the first stage of the competition would hold in 10 centres across Lagos State with only two students per school allowed to participate.
She encouraged school authorities to endorse their best Chemistry students.
Ms. Badiru however said the competition had received the endorsement of the Chemical Society of Nigeria, Institute of Chartered Chemists of Nigeria, the Lagos State Government and the National Association of Parents Teachers Association of Nigeria.
