Google Inc., an American multinational technology company, has applauded Naij.com for its quality reportage and the landmark achievements recorded within few years of its existence.
Google representatives, Alfonso de Gaetano (Head of Emerging Markets) and Benjamin during a visit to Naij.com corporate office in Lagos today, November 26, were impressed by the dynamism and passion exhibited by the Naij.com’s team of young intellectuals.
”Thank you for welcoming us in your office. We were very keen into meeting with your team. We’ve heard and seen a lot from you because of the relationship we have with your parent company.”
”Your platform helps people to have access to important news. It is a very important job. Thank you for doing this.
”I could see dynamism in the team and the passion has been very exciting. What you guys have done in a very short time is very impressive. The fact that you’ve been able to reach every month 17 million people in Nigeria when you only started few years ago is very impressive job.” he said.
The duo who arrived the country yesterday were impressed by the kind of hospitality accorded them by Nigerians and by the enthusiasm exhibited towards the use of the internet.
”We arrived Nigeria yesterday afternoon for the first time so we have very fresh impressions. We are impressed by the welcome and the hospitality of Nigerians and this is really heart-warming.
”Everybody is key about accessing the internet and those fabulous machines give you a super powerful computer in your hand. The data connection is not that bad,” he said.
A market survey by the Google team showed that about 80 t0 90% of Nigerians often access news portals or websites through mobile phones.
Given the huge number of readers that often visit Naij.com’s websites on daily basis, the Google team predicted the number might double in the next one year.
”When we visited phone shops, we observed every one’s attitude at the use of the internet. There is no reason to doubt this number will double next year,” Gaetano said.
In his remarks Benjamin said Google Inc. is driving at offering better support to advertisers and all prospects they can get from digital advertising to further enhance the fastest shift from off line to on line
”This again we benefit all the publishers and also benefit all the digital companies who have invested a lot. We hope in few years time they will start having values for their investment,” he said.
Google Inc. is a world renowned company google inc founded by Larry Page and Sergey Brin. Since it was founded on September 4, 1998, it has been at the vanguard of providing internet-related services and products including online advertising technologies, search, cloud computing, and software.
