Madonna and ex-hubby Guy Ritchie are locked in a trans-Atlantic tug-of-love battle after their teenage son refused to return to his mum in New York, it was reported on Wednesday.
Rocco, 15, was visiting his film director dad in London and was expected to fly back to the States.
But in a dramatic twist, the 57 year old pop diva- who is in the middle of a world tour - went to the Manhattan Supreme Court yesterday to try to force her ex-hubby to sent the teenager back to New York.
She told Justice Lewis Kaplan she had been told by Rocco that he wants to remain inLondon. An attorney representing Mr Ritchie responded that the teen ‘has expressed very clearly that he does not want to return to New York”, the New York Daily News reported.
When asked by the judge whether Ritchie, 47, has prevented his son from returning to the US, the filmmaker’s lawyer, Eric Buckley, reportedly said: "He has expressed very clearly that he does not want to return to New York."
Justice Kaplan ruled that Rocco must return to New York and talk to his mother before deciding which parent he prefers.
The teenager will be represented in the custody case by an attorney appointed by the court.
The judge told the singer, who arrived at court wearing a black cape: ‘I’m directing the child to be returned to New York.”
Madonna and Ritche tied the knot in 2000 and divorced eight years later.
