With house prices in London rising at a rate of £5 per hour last year, homeowners have been trying to make the most of what they have with ever more elaborate extensions.
The Lantern (right), a four-bedroom house in Richmond, took eleven months to extend, adding a new column to the house. In Brackenbury House (left), Hammersmith, a £715,000 extension which took a year, extended the house downwards but added a glass floor so parents could still see what their children are doing from either level.
They are among 33 nominations for the capital's best extensions by New London Architecture, which says homeowners are now willing to spend out on the best designers with house prices at such a premium.
