Senate Committed To Socio-Economic Development Of Nigeria –Saraki


The Senate Presi­dent, Dr. Bukola Saraki, has said that the Senate under his leadership was committed to bet­ter socio-economic de­velopment of the coun­try.

Speaking with journal­ists at his family residence in Ilorin yesterday after a thanksgiving prayer ses­sion to commemorate his 53rd birthday in Ilorin, Senator Saraki said the day did not call for cel­ebration because of the global situation affecting the country.
The special prayer, which was led by the chief imam of Ilorin, Shaykh Mohammed Bashir, also had in atten­dance the popular Islamic cleric, Shaykh Al-Misklin Onikijipa, Governor Ab­dulfatah Ahmed, Speaker, Kwara House of As­sembly, Dr. Ali Ahmad, Senator Dino Melaye, and several members of National and state House of Assembly.
When asked to speak on what the nation should expect from him as the leader of the National Assembly as he added a year, the Senate President said, “As I said, the gen­eral challenging situation globally, in the country, and in the state did not allow for celebration. We have great challenges ahead as a country. So, we have to dedicate our­selves to improving the situation for the common good”.
Saraki, who called for support of all Nigerians in the task ahead, said the legislature was more committed to serve peo­ple towards realisation of collective aspirations and goals.
He also assured that the present leadership under the watch of President Muhammadu Buhari was committed to making lives more bearable and comfortable with eco­nomic policies that would be beneficial to all.
He also hinted that Nigerians should be ex­pectant in the coming year, saying it would witness realisation of lots of transformational economic policies that would be beneficial to all.
He commended the people of Kwara state for their unflinching sup­ports since his emergence as the senate president, saying that he would do everything within his means to ensure that he did not disappoint them and Nigerians in general.
