FBN Holdings Leads Gainers, Indices Up By N121b



FBN Holdings traded higher at the end of yesterday’s transactions on the trading floor of the Nigerian Stock Exchange.
It lead 28 others with 19.25 per cent to close at N4.41 per share. Following FBN Holdings yesterday was Union Bank of Nigeria, adding 9.94 per cent to close at N5.42 per share.

Other gainers of yesterday’s transactions include; Nigerian Breweries, Okomuoil, Seven-up, adding 8.09,7.18 and 6.78 per cent to close at N105.50,N30.00 and N172.99 per share.
Skye Bank gained 5.41 per cent to close at N1.17 per share. Livestock added 5.26 per cent to close at N1.40 per share. Nestle and AIICO garnered 4.98 and 4.94 per cent to close at N744.15 and N0.85 per share.
National Salt Company of Nigeria added 4.93 per cent to close at N6.38 per share. UACN gained 4.90 per cent to close at N19.90 per share. Portland Paints garnered 4.88 per cent to close at N3.87 per share.
Nigerian Aviation Handling Company and Zenith Bank also gained 4.85 and 4.56 per cent to close at N3.24 and N11.00 per share.
However, Honeywell flourmills topped the losers chart with 920 per cent to close at N1.48 per share while Sterling Bank followed with 8.99 per cent to close at N1.62 per share. Vitafoam lost 8.03 per cent to close at N4.58 per share. Mansard shed 5.00 per cent to close at N2.28 per share.
Fidelity Bank dropped 4.48 per cent to close at N1.28 per share. Ecobank TransNational Incorporated, Ashaka cement and WAPCO lost 2.94,1.88 and 1.76 per cent to close at N14.86,N23.55 and N82.00 per share.
Flourmills lost 1.35 per cent to close at N16.13 per share. African Prudential shed 1.29 per cent to close N2.29 per share.
Stanbic IBTC and Berger Paints shed 0.60 and 0.30 to close at N13.20 and N9.97 per share. Guaranty Trust Bank and Access Bank also dropped 0.26 and 0.24 per cent to close at N15.11 and N4.12 per share.
Consequently, Market capitalization appreciated by 1.51per cent , adding N121 billion to close at N8.146 trillion from N8,025 recorded on Wednesday.
Also, the NSEASI appreciated by 1.51 per cent, adding 351.66 points in yesterday’s trading to close at 23,686.67 from 23,335.01 points.
The turnover by volume of transaction increased by 96.33% relative to the previous day trading session closing figure. Major transaction volume was driven by activities in the banking and conglomerates sector led by FCMB, Zenith Bank, Transcorp, Guaranty and FBN Holdings. Others include UBA, Skye Bank, Diamond Bank, Access Bank and Unity Bank.
