Her Majesty marked the start of her 90th year with a service at St Mary Magdalene's church on the Sandringham estate flanked by members of the royal family.
The 89-year-old monarch arrived in her Bentley just before 11am and warmly waved to the hoards of well-wishers from her car.
The Duke of Edinburgh led another group on a wet walk from Sandringham House to the church, including Earl of Wessex, his wife Sophie and their eldest daughter Lady Louise Windsor.
