Nigerian Professional Football League (NPFL) champions, Enyimba, pocketed a total of N70 million from the League Management Company (LMC) to top the money list for the 2015/2016 season.
According to an official publication of the league for the past season, a breakdown of these earnings from the league, showed the seven-time champions received N40 million, like all the other 19 clubs in the league. But they got a record-making prize money of N30 million.
Kano Pillars were paid N15 million when they won a third straight championship two seasons ago.
For the past season, runners-up, Warri Wolves, were paid N22.5 million, while third-placed Nasarawa United got N15 million.
Bottom club, Bayelsa United, received the least cash – N3 million– with relegated clubs, FC Taraba (N3, 150, 000), Kwara United (N3, 600, 000) and Sharks (N3, 750, 000) also adding to their bank balance.
These earnings are in addition to the flat rate of N40 million each team received for featuring in the league.
