MailOnline columnist Katie Hopkins underwent a 12-hour operation on Monday to rid her of epilepsy - a condition which she feared would take her life.
Surgeons have now removed part of her brain, and she is now on the road to recovery with no serious complications.
However, Hopkins has been left with scars which make her look 'like Frankenstein's bride' (left). But she does not plan to hide them away. Instead, she plans to wear the marks with pride after surviving operation, which has allowed her to spend her first nights 'fit free' (top right).
In a society which cares so much for possessions and 'the drivel of vloggers', Hopkins writes, these scars will be worn as a mark of respect to the doctors who have given her a chance to grow old with her family.
