'Hugh and his family are 100% OK': Jackman plays down Bondi Beach rescue as fans brand him a 'real life super hero' after 'rescuing son Oscar, 15, and other swimmers' from dangerous surf

Movie star Hugh Jackman has been involved in a dramatic rescue at Sydney's Bondi Beach after he, his 15-year-old son Oscar and other swimmers were caught in a rip on Saturday afternoon.

The Hollywood actor came to the aid of others in trouble, helping get them to safety with surf life savers taking action as well.

The ordeal was captured on camera as it unfolded (shown above), but the star was too shaken by the incident to talk to media after the rescue.

The drama occurred just days after he returned to Australia after promoting his new movie, Eddie the Eagle.
