Saving face! Quick-thinking baseball fan saves an oblivious kid too absorbed in his phone from being hit by a flying bat

The man is seen in a photo of the incident reaching out his arm in front of the boy, who seems distracted by a smartphone in his hands, as the bat flies through the air just inches from the young fan's nose and eyes. 

Another image of the bat flying midair - taken just a split-second later - shows the bat clearing the boys head as its violent force causes it to spin 180 degrees. 

The Pirates won the game 9-6 at the Braves' spring training stadium in Florida, part of the Walt Disney World resort complex outside Orlando.
