Nidia Garcia, who was supposed to be guarding the streets of the crime-ridden northern Mexican town of Escobedo, has made a grovelling apology after the picture went viral on social media.
The mother-of-two said she was 'wrong' in allowing the picture to be taken, adding she was ashamed of the 'damage' done, especially to her family. It is not the first time Mexican police officers have been reprimanded with regard to incriminating photos. In 2013 two police pilots were suspended after photos emerged of them giving joy rides to local women in official helicopters.
