In sickness AND in health! Woman given four hours to live is saved by husband who gave her a kidney
Donna Ferris, from Lancashire, spent three years on dialysis after visiting her GP with back ache and discovering had kidney failure.
When her kidney function dropped to just three per cent, doctors warned her family she had just hours to live unless she had a transplants. When her parents were unable to donate, her husband Karl was found to be a match and the couple, who have been married for seven years (inset), underwent the life-saving procedure last month (right). They are both recovering well (main picture) and are now looking to start a family. Mr Ferris said: 'A lot of people have said how brave I am for doing it but when I knew that she needed a live kidney I didn't think twice about it.'
