Manchester City have sent a congratulatory message to Kelechi Iheanacho after he scored the winning goal in Super Eagles’ 1-0 win against Mali in an international friendly game in France on Friday.
Iheanacho scored in the 77th minute after coming on to replace Arsenal’s Alex Iwobi to give Nigeria the win against opponents they defeated in the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations semi-finals.
It was Iheanacho’s first senior goal for the Eagles since making his debut against Swaziland in a 2018 World Cup qualifier under former coach Sunday Oliseh.
“Congratulations Kelechi on your winning goal!” Manchester City’s official Twitter handle wrote moments after the match.
Iheanacho had a breakthrough season for Manchester City last campaign, scoring eight Premier League goals and 14 in all competitions despite limited playing time and winning a Capital One Cup medal.
